(STMW) --A teenage boy was shot and killed in West Garfield Park early Saturday. The boy was the seventh person shot in less than six hours throughout the neighborhood.

About 4:15 a.m., officers responding to a call of a person shot found the 16-year-old lying in an alley in the 4000 block of West Jackson with gunshot wounds to the left leg and the left side of his chest, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The boy was taken to Loretto Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was withheld Saturday evening.

He was found in the same block where three other people were shot about 11 p.m. Friday. Three other people were shot less than two hours earlier about a half mile southeast, around 2:45 a.m. in the 3900 block of West Flournoy.
