Teen Critically Wounded In Chicago Lawn Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically wounded Wednesday evening in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy was standing on a sidewalk in the 6300 block of South Mozart Street about 6:20 p.m. when someone walked up to him from a gangway and fired a shot that hit the boy in the head, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Gaines said.

The shooter drove off in a black vehicle, Gaines said, adding that police think the shooting may have been gang-related.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
