Teen Charged With Attempted Murder In Waukegan

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) -- A teenage boy has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man during a fight at a party in north suburban Waukegan earlier this week.

Officers were called early Monday to the 1700 block of Hickory Street, where four people had gotten into a fight during a party, according to a statement released Thursday night from Waukegan Police Chief Wayne Walles.

A teenage boy had fired multiple shots at a man, causing a "superficial injury" that did not require treatment, the release said.

The teen was arrested and later charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, one count of unlawful use of a weapon and possession of cannabis, police said.

It was not immediately known when the boy was scheduled to appear in court.
