Tate, Bates-Diop Lead Ohio St. Past Northern Illinois, 67-54

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Jae'Sean Tate scored 17 and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Keita Bates-Diop had 14 points and 10 boards to lead Ohio State to a 67-54 win against Northern Illinois on Wednesday night.

Trevor Thompson scored 10 for the Buckeyes (5-5).

Marin Maric had a career-high 17 points for Northern Illinois (7-2) and Marshawn Wilson scored 16.

Tate gave the Buckeyes the lead for good on a 3-point play and Kam Williams followed with a 3-pointer to start a 10-2 run that made it 54-46 with 7:32 left. Northern Illinois trailed by at least seven the rest of the way.

Marin Maric scored a career-high 17 and grabbed nine rebounds for the Huskies, who shot a season-low 26.8 percent (15 of 56) from the field, including 5 of 18 from 3-point range. Marshawn Wilson added 16 points.
