Take A High-Speed CTA Blue Line Ride Between Forest Park And O'Hare

By John Dodge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Ready? Set? Ride!

Thanks to the CTA, rail fans can feel what it's like to ride the Blue Line between Forest Park and O'Hare from the perspective of the train's operator.

The entire ride takes about 11 minutes, as viewers are sped along the Kennedy and Eisenhower expressways and zoom though the tunnels in the Loop.

While there were once plans to create a high-speed express train from downtown to O'Hare, the current ride is still a great deal, especially in rush hour. The super-structure to accommodate the express train was built deep below the Block 37 development, but those plans were shelved.

It takes about an hour to make the full run along the Blue Line.

The CTA is planning on releasing similar videos for all of its lines.

It recently released footage of the Red Line.

The run from Forest Park to O'Hare is featured above.

The reverse ride is featured here:
