Swastika Painted On Door Of West Side Elementary School

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A swastika was found painted on the door of an elementary school Tuesday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The graffiti was discovered at John Hay Community Academy at 1018 N. Laramie Ave., authorities said. It was removed by the city and a police report was filed.

"Chicago Public Schools has no tolerance for this type of despicable act, as we are committed to promoting school environments that are welcoming and supportive of all cultures and beliefs," Chicago Public Schools spokesman Michael Passman said.

"We are grateful for the City's effort to remove this hateful message from our school," Passman said.

Chicago Police did not provide information Tuesday afternoon.
