Stolen SUV found abandoned in water at 57th Street Beach

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A stolen SUV was spotted sitting in Lake Michigan at 57th Street Beach Friday morning. 

The windshield wipers on the vehicle were operating when it was found in water nearly up to the tops of its rear tires about 70 feet from shore before dawn.

Fire Department officials said no one had to be rescued and the vehicle was empty when they arrived

Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen and was towed away shortly after 6 a.m.
