SUV Crashes Through Entrance At Northwestern Memorial Hospital

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An SUV crashed into the lobby of Northwestern Memorial Hospital early Wednesday, after a valet driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator, instead of the brake pedal.

Sources said a couple had driven to Prentice Women's Hospital around 2:45 a.m. because the woman was in labor, and gave the keys to the valet to park their SUV. Police said the valet confused the gas pedal for the brake, and drove through the glass entrance at 250 E. Superior St..

No one was injured, and the crash caused only minor damage to the hospital, police said.

The valet was not issued any traffic citations.
