Suspect Sought After Shooting Woman In Country Club Hills

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in south suburban Country Club Hills were searching for a man wanted for shooting his girlfriend, after he fled the scene with his 8-year-old son.

The man shot his girlfriend multiple times around 4 a.m. in the 1100 block of Williamsburg Road, police said.

Witnesses said she was lying bleeding on the lawn outside her home before she was taken away in an ambulance.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Her condition was not available Thursday morning.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 34-year-old Robert Donald, and were conducting an active search. Police said he fled the scene with his 8-year-old son. He was driving a red 2011 Ford Taurus, with Illinois License plate Z558610, and might also have access to a white Buick sedan, with Illinois plate Y754993.

Police said they were seeking an AMBER Alert for Donald and his son, but cannot get one, because they do not have proof he abducted the boy, whose mother lives in Atlanta. Country Club Hills police have alerted all other law enforcement agencies in Illinois to be on the lookout for Donald, and have advised them to use "extreme caution."
