Suspect In Custody For Violent Lansing Kidnapping

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man has been arrested in Michigan, accused of the violent assault and kidnapping of a woman from her home in south suburban Lansing.

Federal investigators spent the last few days searching for a man who abducted a 53-year-old woman early Friday, and then drove her to Munster, Indiana, where surveillance cameras recorded him at an ATM.

When he stopped again in Burns Harbor, the woman got away, and was found by police. Her car later was found abandoned more than 100 miles away, in Holland, Michigan.

An FBI spokeswoman said the suspect was arrested without incident Sunday in Holland, and was being held in the Ottawa County Jail on local charges. The man's name has not yet been released. Federal charges were pending.

It was unclear if the suspect and the victim know each other.
