Suspect In Custody For Fatal Chicago Lawn Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A suspect is in custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a man Wednesday afternoon in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Joseph Brittman, 19, suffered a gunshot wound to the back during an argument about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 6400 block of South Campbell Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Brittman, of the 6600 block of South Bell Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5:24 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Police have a 19-year-old man in custody Thursday morning in connection with the shooting, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
