Suspect Charged In Cicero Warehouse Fire

(CBS) -- Arson charges have been filed against a teenager for allegedly starting a 5 alarm fire that destroyed an abandoned warehouse and a business on 54th Avenue in Cicero last Tuesday.

Both buildings were completely destroyed by the fire and no one was injured.

"We're very pleased that this fire has been resolved and a suspect has been identified," said Fire Chief Ron Opalecky in a press release.

The suspect was believed to be with two other teens who lit a fire, possibly to stay warm. The suspect then began to play with the fire, which caused it to spread according to Cicero fire and police officials

According to Cicero fire officials, a nearby house fire on the same night was caused by a space heater and was not related to the warehouse fire.
