Suspect Charged In Beauty Shop Burglary; 2nd At Large

SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) -- A man has been charged with burglarizing a Sally Beauty Supply store in north suburban Skokie early Wednesday.

Reginald D. Stewart, 45, faces one count of burglary, according to a statement from Skokie police.

Police responded to an activated burglary alarm at the Sally Beauty Supply store at 9440 Skokie Blvd. at 3:21 a.m. Wednesday, according to the statement.

The officers spotted Stewart and another suspect walking across a parking lot carrying a "large sack" and boxes containing over $3,000 in merchandise, which they dropped when the officers approached, police said.

Both suspects ran from the area and Stewart was apprehended a few minutes later, police said.

The second suspect, who was not found, is described as a black man, between 40 and 50 years old, standing between 6-foot and 6-foot-2 and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact police at (847) 982-5900.

Bond was set at $15,000 for Stewart, who lives in the 1700 block of Lake Street in Evanston. He is next scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
