Surveillance Camera Captures SUV Crashing Into Hammond Restaurant

HAMMOND, Ill. (CBS) -- A Philly cheese-steak restaurant in Northwest Indiana became the unfortunate victim of Wednesday morning's snowy weather and slippery roads when a car smashed right in.

A surveillance camera was rolling at the time and captured the shattering glass and the ceiling come crashing down.

The accident happened just before the restaurant opened and luckily, the cashier walked away just moments before it happened.

"Glass was flying. It kind of sounded like the change drawer fell because the change drawer is really, really heavy and it was a really loud noise. I turned and all I see is a car flying though," said cashier Eternity Nykowski.

CBS 2 has been told the driver was taking her father to the hospital down the street. Amazingly, no one was hurt.

The driver was cited failure to use caution for the weather conditions.
