Police Chief William Joyce says the brothers were fighting in the basement of the home and the boys' mother tried to break it up. But the younger boy stabbed his older brother with a large kitchen knife.

Chief Joyce says the older boy, identified as Larry Miles, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

"It's tragic, and I don't think any family should suffer the loss of a child, especially at the hands of a sibling."

Chief Joyce says the younger brother left the home after the stabbing, but returned with his grandfather to face investigators.

CBS 2's Mike Parker talked with friends of Larry Miles.

"He went from a bad side to stop messing with gangs and getting his life on track," said Brandon Colledge. "I had hope for him. He was a good kid."

Miles could potentially be charged as an adult if he is charged at all.
