Suburban Movie Theater To Show "The Interview" Starting On Christmas Day

(CBS) -- Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that the movie, "The Interview" will get a limited release starting on Christmas Day and as WBBM's Steve Miller reports, at least one Chicago area theatre is showing "The Interview."

The movie will be shown on at least one screen at the Hollywood Boulevard Cinema in Woodridge, with the first showing scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Christmas Day.

Hollywood Boulevard marketing director Scott Potter said he personally doesn't have any fears about showing "The Interview" but that they will be having additional security.

Potter said people who want to see "The Interview" should plan to arrive 45 minutes before show time. Right now, the movie is set to be shown through January 1, he said.

Potter said this has turned into a "big deal - politically and in the entertainment world and that, "it is exciting to be a part of cinema history."

A spokeswoman for Woodridge Police, Traci Steger, said the department will keep an "extra watch on the theater."

"We don't anticipate any issues," she said, "but we are prepared to respond if any emergency escalates."

Steger said the manager of the Hollywood Boulevard Cinema called police Tuesday afternoon to tell them they were showing the movie.

CBS 2 Security Consultant Ross Rice says he isn't surprised Sony reconsidered.

"People that make threats, don't carry them out," Rice said. "If I were inclined to see the movie I wouldn't let that dissuade me."

Sony had initially canceled the release for the comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco after a hacker group threatened, "The world will be full of fear. Remember the 11th of September 2001," if the movie is shown.

The U.S. government has linked the group to North Korea and the film's plot line involves two American journalists who get recruited by the CIA to assassinate North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un.
