Students Build Guitar Amp Resembling Donald Trump On A Toilet

(CBS) -- When it comes to this year's presidential campaign, some Chicago students are taking their cynicism of candidates and turning it into whimsical artwork.

CBS 2 Brad Edwards reports.

Northside College Prep juniors Cole Makuch and Xander Gottfried wanted to make something offbeat. They settled on a figure of political candidate Donald Trump sitting on the toilet – a sculpture that doubles as a fully functioning guitar amp.

"We submitted that to the teacher and they laughed," Gottfried says.

"At us," adds Makuch.

Their design did not make the cut for a city art competition. Nor did their effort go viral, as they thought it might, after they placed the item on eBay.

"We expected the internet to blow up, which it didn't," Makuch says.

So far, the school has no art projects dedicated to other presidential hopefuls.
