Student Had Unloaded Gun In Lincolnshire, Police Say
(CBS) -- Police in north suburban Lincolnshire say they've arrested a student at Stevenson High School who brought an unloaded gun to campus Friday morning.

Police say the 17-year-old Stevenson junior knew he had the unloaded, chrome-plated .38 special in his backpack.
The backpack was next to the student in class when police arrested him. He offered no resistance, and classes continued. A search of his locker turned up nothing else, authorities said.
Lincolnshire Police school resource officer Thomas Branick says officials elected not to impose a lockdown. There is no reason to think any student was in danger, he said.
"We're still talking with him. It doesn't seem like school was the primary motivator for him here," Branick said.
Ownership of the gun isn't clear, but Branick says the weapon does not belong to the parents. The seizure is a first for Stevenson.
Charges are pending, but Branick said that for now, it appears he will be charged as a juvenile. After questioning, he was expected to be moved from the Lincolnshire police station to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center in Vernon Hills.
