Stevenson Expressway Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DUI

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) -- A 24-year-old woman has been charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) and causing a three-vehicle crash early Friday in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

About 2 a.m., the woman drove a red Ford SUV onto the Bolingbrook exit ramp at Route 53 and began heading southbound in northbound lanes, according to Illinois State Police.

The SUV then crashed into two vehicles -- a sedan and a pickup truck, police said. One person was in each vehicle and all three were taken to hospitals for treatment, police said. Their conditions were not immediately available.
