State's Attorney Files Lawsuit Against Travel Club Marketers

(CBS) -- The Cook County State's Attorney thinks if the envelope says: "Congratulations, you are a winner," you should actually win something besides a sales pitch, reports WBBM's John Cody.

The State's Attorney's Consumer Fraud Office has filed suit against a business based in Arizona and Wyoming charged with sending envelopes that you've won money, but few if any ever collect anything but another sales pitch.

"These are pretty large, sophisticated national operators," said Hudson. "They are doing millions of dollars in postage."

Hudson says the business operates behind the name U.S. Airlines, Bridgewater Marketing and Southwest Direct Mail.
