State Rep. Calls On Quinn To Fire Private Group Running State Lottery

(CBS) -- A state lawmaker is calling on Governor Quinn to fire the company that runs the Illinois lottery, reports WBBM's Regine Schlesinger.

State Representative Jack Franks (D-Marengo) says Northstar Lottery Group, the private company that took over the lottery, has failed to meet financial goals for three straight years.

Franks says the governor should admit the contract was a mistake.

"It is a bad contract. They have not been performing this contract. He has a moral obligation to fix it," said Franks. "Fire them right now."

Franks says this deal is no less than a disaster for the state's taxpayers and that if not for this kind of revenue loss, the governor might not have to call for making permanent the state income tax hike.
