State Police Probe Shooting On Ontario Street Feeder Ramp To Kennedy Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Illinois State Police on Sunday were investigating a shooting on the Ontario Feeder Ramp to the Kennedy Expressway earlier this weekend.

District Chicago troopers were called at 4:55 a.m. Saturday to the westbound Ontario Street Feeder Ramp to the Kennedy (I-90/94) after reports of a shooting.

Officers learned that one person in a vehicle had suffered a non-life-threatening injury when shots were fired from another vehicle headed in the same direction.

Chicago Police said the incident happened in the 300 block of West Ontario Street at 4 a.m. A 21-year-old man was headed west on Ontario Street when someone in a gray minivan fired multiple shots at his vehicle.

The victim was shot once in the left side of the neck, and drove to Rush University Medical Center, where he was in fair condition, Chicago Police said.

The Ontario Feeder Ramp was closed for several hours after the shooting.

The shooting remained under investigation Sunday evening.
