1 Dead, 3 Hurt In I-55 Crash Near Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (STMW) -- A Romeoville man was killed and three other people were hurt Wednesday afternoon in a chain-reaction crash on I-55 near southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

The crash in the northbound lanes happened at 2:43 p.m. just south of Weber Road, according to Illinois State Police. A delivery truck rear-ended a semi, which then rear-ended a car, authorities said.

Romeoville resident Walter J. Martineck, 47, was the driver of the delivery truck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:41 p.m., according to the Will County Coroner's office.

Two people in the semi and one person in the car were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

At least two lanes of the expressway were temporarily closed, but all lanes had reopened by 5:40 p.m., police said.
