Star Shower Laser Lights Flying Off Shelves

(CBS) --The Star Shower laser lights make is cheap and easy to decorate your home for Christmas, but the trouble is they are flying off the shelves.

CBS 2's Ed Curran reports the $40 product creates thousands of tiny red and green laser lights on your home, saving you the trouble of hanging lights, the hassle of burned out bulbs, and a more festive Christmas electric bill.

It's one of those "as seen on TV" products. It's also a tough find this season, sold out in store after store after store.

Target's website said they were in stock at a store in Niles, so Ed headed there early this morning before the doors opened at 8 a.m. Ed searched for Christmas lights but was redirected from decorations to the "as seen on TV" display and there they were.

Ed also found he wasn't the only one searching for the Star Shower lasers. Colleen Benoris got a call from her dad to get over to target ASAP.

"He called me this morning, he's like, 'I need you to run to target before you go to jazzercise,'" she said.

Sergio and his family were also early risers and saw the light.

"It was supposed to be here last night and they run out and they told us it was supposed to be here at 8 in the morning so we came at 8 in the morning," he said.

Six were sold before 9 a.m.

Because it uses lasers there have been problems with the lights shining in pilot's eyes. The people who make the lights remind you to shine them only on your house.
