Sriracha Fans Relax: Fears Of Sauce Shortage Resolved

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Nationwide fears of a global Sriracha shortage were eased this week after a dispute between the spicy chile sauce maker and a California town was resolved.

City officials in Irwindale, Calif., were Sriracha manufacturer Huy Fong Foods has a huge factory, dismissed a lawsuit that declared the site a public nuisance.

The two sides reached an agreement after Huy Fong said it would address complaints from residents of odors coming from the factory during the manufacturing process, the Pasadena Star News reports.

Residents complained last fall that the fumes from chile grinding burned their eyes and throats.

The company has since installed a new filtration system.

The lawsuit had threatened the future of the factory, leading Sriracha fans to fear a shortage.
