Southbound Lake Shore Drive Reopened After Fatal Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 25-year-old man was shot and killed early Wednesday while driving on Lake Shore Drive in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Police said the man was driving a Lexus south on Lake Shore Drive near Fullerton Avenue around 3:45 a.m., when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired several shots.

The Lexus crashed into the center median after the shooting.

The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers who were in the Lexus were not injured.

The southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive were shut down between Belmont and Chicago avenues until about 6:30 a.m. as police investigated the shooting.

No one was in custody Wednesday morning.

Area North detectives were investigating.
