Two Injured In South Side Pin-In Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Two women were seriously injured when a car slammed into a viaduct support beam Thursday night on the border of the Englewood and Gresham neighborhoods on the South Side.

The vehicle hydroplaned and crashed about 9:45 p.m. on Loomis Boulevard south of 74th Street, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Firefighters had to extricate the 19-year-old woman at the wheel, who suffered leg and hip injuries, fire officials said. The 20-year-old woman in the passenger seat had a rib injury.

Both were taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, fire officials said.

Chicago Police did not immediately have information about the crash.
