Multiple shots strikes, kills man inside parked car in South Deering

CHICAGO (CBS) – A man is shot and killed while sitting inside a parked car in South Deering Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 5:46 a.m., at the Peco Pallet in the 2900 block of East 126th Street.

Police said the victim, 39, was in the driver's seat of a parked car when an unknown suspect opened fire.

The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene.

At least 20 bullet holes were counted on the drivers-side door and window.

A truck driver who parked nearby said he couldn't believe what he heard. 

"It sounded like somebody popped off like an Uzi or something," said Ricky Foster. "When I heard those shots, I got up and looked outside, and I just got back in my bunk because I'm a truck driver. and I didn't want no stray bullets flying and hitting me. So, I just kinda took cover you know."

No other injuries were reported.

No one is in custody.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
