Boy Shot While Walking To School In South Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 15-year-old boy was shot while walking to school Wednesday morning in the South Chicago neighborhood. Police are still searching for a suspect.
Chicago Police Capt. Terry McMahon said officers responded to a ShotSpotter gunfire detection alert around 8:30 a.m. near 90th and Brandon, and found a 15-year-old boy who had been shot multiple times.

The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition. Sixteen shots were fired at the teen.
He was trying to get up to Hyde Park to his high school when shooting took place.
"Anytime you have violence within our city streets, it's horrific. The Chicago Police Department is in tune with keeping our children safe on the street, so this one hits personally hard in the 4th District," McMahon said.
McMahon said the street where the attack happened is not a Safe Passage route.
"This is crazy, Chicago needs to stop killing people," one neighbor said. "This is the most violent act I've ever seen on this block."
Gunfire is not new to this area, neighbors said a half dozen windows have been shot at in recent months.
Police asked any possible witnesses to come forward, including any neighbors who might have surveillance cameras or doorbell cameras that could have recorded the shooting.
Area South detectives were investigating.
