Sources: Erie County DA Expected To Make Announcement Thursday On Kane Investigation

(CBS) -- Sources tell CBS 2's sister station in Buffalo, N.Y., that the Erie County district attorney is expected to make an announcement Thursday regarding the rape investigation into Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.

The sources say that Erie County DA Frank Sedita will announce whether the case will go to a grand jury or be dismissed outright.

A woman who Kane partied with on the night of Aug. 1 claims Kane raped her at his upstate New York home near Buffalo in the early morning hours of Aug. 2. Previous reports from the Buffalo News have said that it's unlikely that Kane will face criminal charges and that the woman who has accused Kane is not cooperating with the investigation.

The Erie County DA has no comment on the report.
