Source Of Natural Gas Smell In NW Indiana Still Unknown

(CBS) -- Environmental authorities in Northwest Indiana have not yet determined the source of a powerful, natural gas-like smell that has prompted numerous complaints.

Towns reported several calls for service from residents who got whiff of the stench, WBBM's Mike Krauser reports.

While the source was never determined, it may have been caused by somebody mishandling mercaptan, the chemical that gives natural gas its smell.
