Soler Named Cubs' Minor League Player Of The Month

(CBS) Triple-A Iowa outfielder Jorge Soler has been named the Cubs' minor league player of the month for July, the team announced Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Soler batted .406 with a 1.391 OPS in 24 games in July split between Double-A Tennessee and Iowa.

For the season, Soler is hitting .360 with 10 homers and 37 RBIs in 42 games, which also includes time in Rookie League Mesa.

Soler is on Chicago's 40-man roster and is expected to get a September call-up. He signed a nine-year, $30-million deal with the Cubs in June 2012.

Single-A Kane County right-hander Jen-Ho Tseng, 19, was named the team's minor league pitcher of the month for July, during which he went 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA.
