Snow Friday in Chicago area with winter storm warning in effect for some counties

Snow in Chicago area, here's what you can expect

CHICAGO (CBS) — Winter weather may impact your morning and afternoon commute. Here's what you can expect Friday. 

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for McHenry, Boone and Winnebago counties until 4 p.m. A Winter weather advisory remains in place for Lake County until 4 p.m.

Snowfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches will be possible, with isolated higher amounts near the Wisconsin state line.  According to the National Weather Service, there is potential for snowfall totals exceeding 6 inches in the heaviest snow band. 

The Chicago area will see more lake-effect slushy snow showers into the afternoon and evening. 

Temperatures will stay near 40 degrees on Friday. 

A chilly day is ahead on Saturday with highs in the 30s. According to the NWS the next chance for rain is Sunday night into Monday. 

Highs return to the 50s with rain chances to start the week.
