Small, Dedicated Group Of Men To Become Priests This Weekend

(CBS) -- Five men will begin a journey of faith this weekend that fewer are choosing.

CBS 2's Vince Gerasole introduces us to some of the seminary students about to be ordained as Catholic priests in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

One of them, Domenic Clemente Jr. from Elmwood Park, is a 21st-century communicator. From his own Facebook page and YouTube channel, he's already posting homilies and religious thoughts.

"You can reach millions of people," he says.

Evergreen Park's Matt Litak is another, sharing similar joys.

"I am totally excited for it. It's like your wedding day," he says.

They are young men who know their vows of celibacy and poverty aren't easy to understand.

"The lifelong commitment is something that's a struggle for everyone, especially millennials like me," Litak says.

There are roughly 600 priests actively at work in the archdiocese. Nearly 200 will be required to retire over the next decade when they reach 70.
