Slight Risk Of Rain Friday And Sunday, But Mostly Lovely Weather This Weekend

CHICAGO (CBS) -- While there will be a slight chance of showers Friday evening, and a small risk of thunderstorms on Sunday, most of this weekend should have ideal summer conditions.

Friday was the 22nd consecutive day the high reached at least 80 degrees in Chicago. The high was expected to reach about 84 degrees.

The tail of a storm system moving through Wisconsin could bring some scattered showers to the Chicago area Friday evening, but there's a chance no rain will reach the area at all.

Saturday could be cloudy, but still warm, with temperatures in the low 80s, and mainly dry.

The greatest chance for rain this weekend is Sunday, when there's a 30 percent chance of precipitation. According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible. CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros reports those storms are likely to be scattered, and not a washout.

Rain is possible again on Monday, and then conditions should be clear Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. High temperatures also will be in the low to mid 80s through Thursday.
