Burglary Spree Hits Several Businesses In Skokie

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Shattered windows with glass on the ground at several businesses in Skokie this week, including Tuesday morning after a burglary spree overnight.

The Skokie Police Department said it received reports of four crimes taking place the last two days with the same suspect.

On Monday, August 16 around10:59 p.m., police responded to the 7800 block of Lincoln Avenue for a report of a burglary to an auto repair business. Police said the suspect got in by shattering a window.

Witnesses said the suspect was about six-feet-tall, 185 lbs. with dyed red hair. He was earing white pants and a white t-shirt and left through the back of the building with several key fobs. The suspect got into "a parked black Cadillac Escalade, and fled the scene."

Police said it was a stolen vehicle from another incident in Lincolnwood on Sunday, August 15. Around 11:00 Monday night,  2021, a person matching the description shattered a front window on a smoke shop in the 5300 block of Lincoln Avenue. Authorities said he stole a number of e-cigarette items.
