BEACH PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- A man has been charged with hitting a teenager skateboarder and leaving the scene of the accident.

It happened just after 7:30 Saturday night in far north suburban Beach Park. That's when a 16-year-old riding his skateboard was hit from behind and seriously hurt.

Epifanio Moya, 28, of Zion has been charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, dialing to report an injury accident, both felonies, and driving while license suspended, a misdemeanor.

The victim was flown in a helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Lake County Sheriff Deputies located the car after receiving an anonymous tip and police say Moya turned himself in to investigators Sunday afternoon.
