Simons, Fowler Lead Central Michigan Past Northern Illinois, 76-64

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — John Simons scored 17, including three 3-pointers, with eight rebounds, and Chris Fowler had 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists to lead Central Michigan past Northern Illinois 76-64 Tuesday night.

Josh Kozinski added 15 points — all on 3s — and Braylon Rayson scored 10 for Central Michigan.

Kozinski, who came into the game tied for first in the Mid-American Conference with 71 made 3-pointers, hit a pair from beyond the arc to spark a 10-4 run that put the Chippewas (15-13, 8-7 Mid-American) up 74-62 with a minute to play.

Northern Illinois (18-10, 7-8) shot 36.1 percent from the field, including 3 of 19 (15.8 percent) from 3-point range.

Marin Maric had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies, while Travon Baker scored 10.

Central Michigan, which came into the game ranked No. 4 in Division I in turnovers per game (9.4), committed just seven.
