Shots Fired At Officers In Andersonville

(CBS) -- A shoplifting in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood ended Saturday night with gunshots fired at two police officers, who were not hit.

Investigators say police were trying to arrest a shoplifter in the 5500 block of North Clark Street around 8 p.m. when he managed to reach a gun and fired on the officers. It's unclear where the weapon came from; some media outlets reported an officer had been disarmed.

The two officers were hurt during a scuffle with the suspect, who was large, police said at the scene. They are expected to be OK.

The suspect is in custody.
