Truck Driver Killed In I-88 Shooting
(CBS) -- A 43-year-old truck driver was killed Friday in what may have been a shooting on Interstate 88 near Oak Brook, state police say.
The driver, Eduardo Munoz of Sunrise, Fla., was in a semi-tractor-trailer truck when the shooting occurred at 4 p.m. on I-88 just west of I-294, Illinois State Police say. The man was taken to Elmhurst hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
State police say two vehicles were travelling eastbound when someone shot at the truck Munoz was in. The driver managed to pull over to the right shoulder before help reached him.
I-88, or the Reagan Memorial Tollway, was closed in the inbound direction Friday evening as Illinois State Police investigated.
Troopers could be seen walking the roadway, looking for evidence. Later, one lane was reopened to eastbound traffic.
No suspect was in custody, state police said.
