Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Chicago, NW Indiana

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch remains in effect until 10 p.m.

Strong storms are expected to develop later this afternoon and early evening, with "lime sized hail" possible in some spots.

Winds could also gust to 70 miles per hour with frequent lightning.

A watch means that storms are possible. A warning means that storms are imminent, according to the weather service.

The watch area extends north toward Madison, Wis., and west across the Illinois-Iowa border, affected about 14 million people.
