Pedestrian Dead, Several Injured In Car Crash On 74th And Racine

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago police are investigating a crash that left several people injured and an woman dead.

The incident happened around 11:54 Monday morning in the 7400 block of South Racine. According to CPD, two suspects traveling southbound in a silver Chevy SUV when the driver ran a red light, hitting a red Jeep.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit an 43-year-old woman. She was taken to St. Bernard Hospital where she later died.

Crews with the Chicago Fire Department were on the scene.

Three occupants of the Jeep struck all sustained minor injuries. Two were taken to St. Bernard Hospital, and one occupant was transported to Holy Cross.

The two male offenders from SUV fled, but were detained and taken into custody. One of them was armed.
