Seven Wounded In Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Seven people were wounded in separate shootings across the city since Thursday afternoon.

The most recent shooting occurred about 1:50 a.m. Friday when a 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg in the 6600 block of North Sheridan Road, police said. She was taken to Evanston Hospital in good condition.

About 10:20 p.m. Thursday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the face in the 9000 block of South Union Avenue, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in unknown condition.

Earlier Thursday evening, a man was shot in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side. The man, 21, was in the 6900 block of North Paulina Street about 8 p.m. when an unknown male walked out of an alley and fired at him before running away, police said.

He was shot in the cheek and taken to Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in "stable" condition, police said.

Several hours earlier, a man was shot while driving in the South Shore neighborhood. The man, 21, was driving in the 7800 block of South Crandon Avenue at 4:24 p.m. when someone started shooting at him, police said.

He realized he had been shot in the thighs and drove himself to South Shore Hospital, police said. He was originally listed in critical condition, but has since been stabilized and transferred to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

About 20 minutes earlier, two men were shot in the West Town neighborhood. The men, 30 and 32, were in the 1600 block of North Talman Avenue at 4:04 p.m. when they were shot, police said.

The 32-year-old was shot in the upper arm, while the 30-year-old was shot in the left knee, police said. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition.

Thursday's first shooting occurred at 2:44 p.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 700 block of South Kedzie Avenue, police said. He transported himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

No one was in custody for any of the shootings Thursday night as area detectives investigated.
