At Least 4 Taken To Hospital, 1 With Life-Threatening Injuries, After Crash On Edens Expressway At Lake Cook Road

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (CBS) -- A terrifying crash on the Edens Expressway tied up traffic for hours Saturday.

The crash happened at 4:46 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Lake Cook Road.

The force of the collision sent one of the cars careening into the grass. Both vehicles sustained significant and visible damage.

One person was trapped inside one of the cars.

At least four people were taken to the hospital. One was said to be in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Illinois State Police said the two right lanes on the Edens were closed at Lake Cook Road following the crash.
