Sending Rookies In Full Uniform On Starbucks Runs Across From Wrigley Is All The Rage, Apparently

(CBS) Rookie hazing in sports has seemingly (and rightfully) become tamer in this day and age, but it still takes place.

Just a few weeks ago, the Dodgers sent center field phenom Joc Pederson and the fellow rookies, in full uniform, to the Starbucks on Addison just across the street from Wrigley Field to get a morning caffeine fix. They'd also made the same run last September when Los Angeles visited Chicago.

That's now all the rage, apparently. Late Tuesday morning before the start of a 12:20 p.m. game that kicks off a day-night doubleheader against the Cubs, the Cardinals sent their rookies to Starbucks as well in full uniform. Pitchers Mitch Harris, Miguel Socolovich and Marcus Hatley and bullpen catcher Kleininger Teran made the short trip across the street.

The Cardinals beat the Cubs, 6-0, on Monday night in a game that was delayed 1 hour, 15 minute, so the coffee run was probably much needed ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader.
