Semi-truck crashes on northbound Dan Ryan Expressway near Chinatown feeder ramp

Semi truck crashes, blocking traffic on Dan Ryan Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS) – Traffic is being diverted following a semi-truck crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 2:47 a.m. on I-94 northbound at 31st.

Illinois State Police say for unknown reasons, the truck struck the right concrete median barrier – causing 10 feet of the wall to fall over. The debris was left partially hanging with some falling onto the Chinatown feeder ramp.

The truck then struck the left median concrete barrier – causing it to lose around 65,000 of diesel fuel, ISP said.

No injuries were reported.

IDOT is on the scene repairing the wall and removing excess concrete. Traffic is being directed away from the crash scene.

The semi has since been towed away.

No further information was immediately available.
