Semi Driver Sought In Hit-And-Run That Left Woman Seriously Injured

(STMW) -- Police are searching for the driver of a semi that struck another vehicle and then drove off early Friday in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side, leaving a woman in serious condition.

About 5 a.m., the woman, whose exact age wasn't available, was driving south on Wentworth Avenue when a silver-blue semi without a trailer struck her vehicle at the 47th Street intersection, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The semi continued north on Wentworth before turning the wrong way down a one-way side street and heading west on Swann, the alert said. The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Police said the semi has logos on the driver and passenger side doors and may have damage to its rear and passengers side after the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police Major Accidents Investigations Unit at (312) 745-4521.
