Semi Driver Dead In Two-Truck Collision Near Coal City

(CBS) – Two semi-tractor-trailer trucks collided Monday evening on Interstate 55, killing one driver, authorities said.

The accident occurred south of Coal City in the interstate's southbound lanes. At least one semi was on fire, and police shut down traffic in both directions.

The Grundy County Coroner's Office said one driver was killed, and the other was in good condition.

One truck was carrying food products, the other automotive parts.

Coal City is about 45 miles southwest of Chicago.
