Driver Killed When Car, Semi Collide On I-55

(CBS/STMW) -- Part of northbound Interstate 55 was shut down Friday afternoon following a fiery fatal crash near west suburban Burr Ridge.

Jeffrey M. Carioto of Burr Ridge died after the Hyundai he was driving collided with a semi truck parked on the shoulder in the northbound lanes near County Line Road, according to Illinois State Police. Carioto, 51, became entrapped in  his car, which caught fire, police said.

The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m.

All lanes of the northbound expressway were blocked as crews responded, but were later reopened.

No other injuries were reported. Additional details weren't available.
