Scrap Yard Worker Dies In Workplace Accident In South Deering

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A scrap yard worker died Monday morning after getting his arm trapped in a conveyor belt at a plant in the South Deering neighborhood.

Police and fire officials said the man became trapped around 9:45 a.m. at a salvage yard at 11600 S Burley Av.

According to the Fire Department, the man lost his arm in the accident, and likely died of a combination of shock and blood loss.

Chicago Police said they were conducting a death investigation.
